Daniel serves as a Patent Engineer at Torrey Pines Law Group®, supporting the firm's intellectual property practice with a focus on patent preparation and prosecution. His background spans legal research, regulatory policy, and contract drafting, informed by direct work with systems governing healthcare access and public welfare.
Collaborating with attorneys and clients, he helps prepare and prosecute patent applications for inventions in machine learning, large language models, deep learning, and natural language processing. Through prompt engineering and generative modeling, he evaluates how specific technical contributions should be claimed, ensuring precise disclosures for fast-evolving AI systems.
Outside of patent law, he is recognized as one of the most accomplished young trial advocates in the country. In 2026, he competed in the Gladiator 1-on-1 Mock Trial World Championship at Drexel University's Kline School of Law—a distinction earned by fewer than 0.01% of competitors worldwide. Serving as President and Lead Attorney of his Mock Trial team, he earned Outstanding Trial Attorney honors at the San Diego County High School Mock Trial Competition and led the program to a Top 6 finish in California.
His advocacy extends to policy research at the intersection of regulatory law and healthcare access. While working for members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the California State Senate, he handled constituent casework for unhoused veterans and families facing eviction. These experiences highlighted the gap between legislation and implementation, ultimately inspiring his paper, "The Perpetual Struggle for Access Within Reformed Veterans' Health Systems." Published in the American Journal of Student Research (Vol. 3, Issue 6, 2025), the paper analyzes how landmark federal legislation failed to translate policy intent into actual care for veterans. Commercially, he has also applied his legal skills as an intern at Draftwise, where he drafted business agreements and reviewed NDAs.
A dedicated community leader, he served on the Poway Unified School District's Superintendent Student Advisory Council. In this role, he represented over 35,000 students across 41 schools, advising the Board of Education on wellness and curriculum reform. Additionally, he founded Gentle Keys, a 50-member student ensemble that has spent four years providing weekly music performances and one-on-one instruction to seniors in local care facilities.
Currently an undergraduate at Duke University, Daniel continues his trial advocacy with the university's Mock Trial team. After graduation, he plans to attend law school to pursue a career as a patent attorney.
